So, Why Japan?

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog and my first post! I created this blog because there are so many wonderful people that I would like to share my study abroad experience with. I know that while in Japan, I will be too busy to update everyone individually, so I thought it would be much easier if I could just send a link to this website when asked how things were going than repeating myself a million times over. Right now, my site is pretty bare, but I am planning on working on and updating my blog over the next few months until I finally go to Japan. When I do make it to Japan, I plan on making weekly blog posts to update my friends, family, and anyone else who is interested in what I've been up to. I am beyond excited and extremely grateful as this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Now, you might be wondering, why Japan? Why is he studying Japanese? How will he make a living off of that? Well to start off, my whole life I have had a great passion for and interest in linguistics, language learning, and learning about other cultures. This is a big and diverse world that is becoming increasingly globalized, so it is imperative that we strive to make communications between nations go as smoothly as possible and have access to people who can facilitate communication between nations and peoples. It is my dream to become a translator or interpreter after I finish my education. I also plan on applying for the JET program since my minor is TESOL, which you can learn about here. I also am thinking of continuing my education by going to grad school for either Japanese or linguistics but nothing has been set in stone yet. I also will be able to teach English to anyone around the world or tutor Japanese. The flexibility of this field was one of the deciding factors in why I chose this path.
Also, I have always been fascinated by Japanese culture and history and I think it is a beautiful country that I can't wait to explore. I also hope to make many friends and connections while abroad that will help to open and expand my worldview and provide a symbiotic, cross-cultural exchange. So yeah, that's why Japan. I
